Communists are Optimists by Profession: The Forgotten Story of the Hungarian Commune

I have written a review of Ervin Sinkó’s masterful modernist novel The Optimists, a largely autobiographical account of the Hungarian Soviet Republic of 1919. The review, which is supposed to entice public interest in this excellent novel, which has never been translated into English, is available here. As of recently, the HM website also has a biography of the author’s equally extraordinary wife, Irma Rothbart-Sinkó, also written by me.
